[sumo-user] speed factor

ali mirzaei
Hi,
I want to consider the effect of the speed factor on a flow. The point didn't get clear even after reading the manual in which the speed factor and speed deviation addressed. Do you think changing the cut-offs is possible?
Regards,
Ali

Re: [sumo-user] speed factor

Jakob Erdmann
Using the 4-parameter definition speedFactor="normc(mean, dev, min, max)" you can change the cut-offs.

Hi,
Do you mean through XML codes? How by netedit I can insert them?
Thank you,
Ali

Netedit currently does not support specifing the multi-parameter version. You have to edit the xml file with a text editor.

Re: [sumo-user] speed factor

ali mirzaei
Hi,
Let me explain what I am doing in short. In my scenario, there are a main and a side street with the same flows(vehicle attributes). I changed speedFactor to 1.2 and speedDev to 0.2 in the second try in netedit through the vehicle type attribute editor and compared it with the state in which speedFactor=1 and speedDev=0.
<vType id="vType_0" minGap="2.50" speedFactor="normc(1.2,0.20,0.20,2.00)" color="yellow" sigma="1"/>
1- I expected to see a faster flow than the ex-one in the main street but I think it didn't happen as the volume of the entry flow from the side street didn't change. why?
2- I edited the speedFactor in the four-parameter version of normal distribution in the XML file and saved it. But when I backed to netedit, nothing had changed in the vehicle type attribute editor and the values(speedFactor and sppedDev) were as same as the ex-ones. Why?
3- MY major question is how I can trace in my flow the impact of cut-offs' editing?
Regards,
Ali.

Re: [sumo-user] speed factor

Jakob Erdmann
Hello,
changing the cut-offs should not have a big impact on flow since you're not changing the number of vehicles and speed limits are typically not the limiting factor at intersections.
Also, by setting a deviation of 0.2 you will still get vehicles with speedFactor < 1 and those may have lower the speed overall.
As mentioned, netedit does not yet support the multi-parameter version (neither editing nor display), though this is being addressed in the development version.
To check the impact on your cut-offs, use tripinfo-output and then run the command
python sumo/tools/output/attributeStats.py tripinfos.xml -e tripinfo -a speedFactor
This will give you statistics on the assigned speedFactor values in your simulation.

regards,
Jakob
